Originally established in Chesterville as Bridals by Al-Mor by owner Joyce Sharkey, the store offered ladieswear alongside a carefully selected collection of bridal gowns and special occasion dresses. From the beginning, the boutique earned a reputation for helping women find the perfect look for life’s most memorable moments.

In 2006, Kim Carruthers took over the business, bringing fresh energy while preserving the personalized service and welcoming atmosphere that customers had come to love. In 2009, the store relocated to Winchester, where it continued to attract brides from across Eastern Ontario. Kim credits much of the boutique’s success to the unwavering support of the local community and the relationships built over generations of customers.

Over the years, the boutique has grown significantly, now carrying between 300 and 500 gowns and dresses at any given time, with an extensive range of sizes from extra-small to plus-size. The spacious upper level is dedicated to brides and their wedding parties, featuring private fitting areas, comfortable change rooms, a walk-through bridal dressing suite, and a modern lounge designed to make every appointment feel special.

Known for its ever-changing, eye-catching window displays, the boutique has brought a touch of glitz and glamour to downtown Winchester for years. These displays have become a local landmark, reflecting the excitement and celebration that define the bridal experience.

In Spring 2026, the next chapter began with the launch of Rue Bridal House, a rebrand spearheaded by Kim’s daughter, Lexy Carruthers. While the name has evolved, the heart of the business remains the same. Lexy continues the tradition of exceptional service, inclusivity, and genuine care that has defined the boutique since 1991.

Today, brides travel from across the region to experience a carefully curated collection, welcoming atmosphere, and family-driven approach that has made Rue Bridal House a trusted part of so many love stories for more than three decades.
